2023 Training Review - Koreatech HRDI

 

In 2023, I conducted 13 two-day courses at the Korea University of Technology and Education’s HRD Institute (KOREATECH HRDI).

My two courses are as follows.

"Emotional teaching methods learned from a natural storyteller"

"Learning Coaching skills through movies"

The results of the participants' post-training survey were posted on the KOREATECH HRDI website.

I would like to share these results for the future participant.

I would like to thank my friend Jeongbeom Kang for planning this course and encouraging me to participate in this project.

I also appreciate KOREATECH HRDI's core members (Sang-wook Cha, Yun-ju Seo, Yeon-jong Choi, and Han-bit Kim) who helped me carry out this courses successfully.

[Curriculum] Please feel free to describe your suggestions about the curriculum.

• It was a very useful time as I learned how to voluntarily elicit from trainees the expectations needed to run the course and the rules they would like to follow.
• I was able to empathize deeply and learn well through the instructor's thorough lecture preparation and lectures that increased the participation rate. In addition, the assistant instructor worked hard. Thank you.

Q. [Instructor] Please feel free to describe any suggestions you have for the instructor.

• The instructor's classes were so great that I wanted to keep coming back and taking them. It was a perfect class in terms of tone, appropriate tools (Pokemon stickers) to increase class participation, as well as lecture content. We will do a lot of practicing to monitor trainees' emotions during future classes.
• The professor was gentle and firm in his teaching, and created a free atmosphere, so I took the long class comfortably, but I didn't feel tired at all, which was great. I really liked the lecture content because they took good pictures of the parts I needed in the actual training and informed me, and tailored the class to each individual.
• I enjoyed listening to instructor Lee Dong-cho, a natural storyteller, who was full of fun and useful lectures.

• Including e-learning. I participated in many classes, but I was most satisfied with today's class. This may be due to the nature of the subject, but the class was flexible, conducted in accordance with the trainee's standards, and although there were some parts that were overlooked as if they were no big deal, it was a class where you could feel the level of professionalism. I may have been more satisfied because it was a class I chose out of necessity, but as a lecturer, I also felt that the professor was truly the best among the best. I would like to take any of the professor's classes again. Thank you for your hard work in having experts sit down and teach. I hope to see you soon with another class. I was very satisfied, and I learned a lot. Professor Lee Dong-cho. thank you It was a happy time.
• It was a class that was immersive and not boring at all from the first to the last class. It was a very satisfying lecture because it explained broad and ambiguous topics clearly and made what I learned more fun and easier to understand through movies.

• This is my second time taking Professor Dongcho Lee's class. Very fortunately~~ In fact, as I entered the classroom, I wished it was Professor Lee Dong-cho. I am so honored to take classes with this professor, and he is such a warm and heartwarming person that I can't even describe it. Needless to say, he is not professional, and even when somewhat difficult people ask questions that disrupt the class, his expression does not change and he answers one by one warmly. I was really impressed by how he explained things in a way that didn't offend me and how he worked hard for everyone's benefit. Rather than focusing on the content of the class, it is more about the professor's teaching techniques and the way he listens to all of the stories even during breaks. He also has time to meet with the teachers who participated in the class in the evening, and he willingly gives up all of his time over the two days that we spend together instead of 12 hours. It was touching. It was such a valuable education that I regret taking it for free, and I hope that Professor Lee Dong-cho's classes will be offered more often. I was so grateful, touched, and the best. I really learned a lot. Two days is too short. thank you

Q. Please freely describe your overall suggestions for this course.

• I was refreshingly shocked by the instructor's ability to use movies to organize coaching skills in an easy-to-understand and fun way. I believe that the instructor's unique and diverse learning promotion methods that attempted to communicate two-way with learners played a significant role in increasing learner participation. One thing I would like to suggest is that, separate from this course, we should consider opening an “Instructor’s Intensive Coaching Skills Course Learned Through Movies.” Because movies are something that every learner is interested in, I think it could be a great new course if the content is structured a little more to suit the in-depth coaching skills course. In the in-depth course, it would be a good idea to re-edit the movie at each coaching stage to make it more impactful so that learners can clearly understand the unfolding situation of the actors in the movie being coached. It would be good if the instructor could summarize and explain the overall story of the movie so that students can understand it without having to watch the entire movie. In that case, learners will be able to understand the coaching content developed for each step in detail in a much shorter time than now. After watching the movie, the learner is asked to write a 'Coaching Action Plan' on one sheet of A4 paper about what he or she would do, taking into account the individual's current situation as much as possible. Then, we have each group discuss based on the data they wrote, announce the group results, and then encourage the group that presented and other groups to freely answer questions. In that case, we will be able to naturally 'benchmark coaching skills in different industries' by understanding and sharing the situations of learners participating in various fields. I think it would be good if the instructor gave general feedback afterward. However, it would be better to use films other than the two used in this course for the advanced course. Once the in-depth course is opened, it is expected that not only will learners who have already completed this course participate, but the range of choices for those interested in coaching skills will expand.
• When I had no choice but to take classes to fill the time for continuing education, my satisfaction was very low, but when I chose and took the courses I needed, my satisfaction was high, and it was really not a waste of time. Although people choose other academies based on their own needs, many people choose Hanki University's education to fill their time. So, the quality of the classes for those who really want to take them is often poor. It's a little heartbreaking to see that the best professors are recruited, but classes are taught in a time-consuming manner. I, too, had to take classes I didn't want to take to fill my continuing education hours, but today's class was so satisfying that it gave me goosebumps, perhaps because I chose it because I wanted to take it. I hope that in the future, classes will be held for those who want it. I hope that this will be an opportunity provided to those who truly want high-quality classes from people with the skills. It was the best course and well worth the 12 hours.
• At first, I honestly didn't have much expectations, but after receiving it, I thought about a lot of things. I decided to make use of my strengths and improve my weaknesses, and that although I am not a star instructor, I should try to communicate and empathize with each other. The professor was the best. I continued the class like a child. I said it would have been nice if I had done it. The emotional touch was cool. I am grateful for the training. ^^
• I liked that the textbook and lecture content were exactly the same. (I always feel this, but the consistency between class content and textbooks relieves learners' anxiety during class.) Classes are flexible and smooth due to the instructor's expertise and thorough class preparation. Everyone is satisfied by carefully considering the learners' feelings. Most of them are instructors or people in similar industries, and I think it is a necessary class. I am very satisfied with the course. It's the best. I emphasize once again, I believe that the instructor's role is the biggest in any course. The professor's teaching style makes the course more satisfying. thank you
• It was a very satisfying lecture. It was a lecture that could be immediately applied in practice. It was a time of excitement and enjoyment due to the instructor's meticulous preparation and keen insight. thank you
